District staff told the Silver Falls School District Board that construction work on a seismic retrofit at the Silvercrest campus is on schedule to finish before teachers return.

Superintendent Kim Kelson said contractor Brokamp and Jaeger are performing siding, roofing and interior remodels including the library and music room. She reported the project is funded from an ODE seismic retrofit grant and estimated the total project — including contingency — at roughly $1,700,000, and said the projected completion date is Aug. 22, ahead of teacher work in late August.

Kelson invited board members to tour the building as construction nears completion. No board action was taken; the update was informational.
