Sodexo and district report 152,000‑meal increase after community‑eligibility rollout; board approves contract renewal

Officials explained that while meals are provided at no cost to students, the district still bills for every meal and processes reimbursements through state and federal programs; the allowable CPI increase and per‑meal cost figures for the 2025–26 Sodexo renewal appeared in the contract resolution presented to the board.

Staff also previewed a Sodexo “Bright Bites” or “Bridal Bites” pilot planned for the fall to introduce new menu items via taste tests across elementary schools and to align menu updates with kitchen renovations funded by the bond.
Summer meal sites and schedules were discussed: the district will operate open meal sites and some closed sites for program participants, serving ages 0–18 at open locations. Spoon and Ralston said they will work with the district on kitchen upgrades and menu pilots timed with bond‑funded kitchen renovations.
