The North Little Rock City Planning Commission approved a special-use permit allowing a contractor's office with an outdoor granite display at 1624 East Broadway.

Applicants Catherine and Maria Mendoza told the commission they plan to cut and polish granite inside the building and display finished stone outdoors. Commissioners asked about noise and dust control; the applicants said cutting is done inside with saws and that cutting uses water to control dust. They said the work will occur inside with doors closed when sawing is underway.

Staff confirmed the building is currently vacant and the commission took a roll-call vote to approve the special use. Approved applicants were directed to meet with planning staff to finalize any operational conditions attached to the permit.
