Paxton Roberts, representing the Downtown Springdale Alliance (DSA), briefed the Springdale City Council on July 22 about the organization’s work in the first two quarters of 2025 and near‑term plans for programming, park use and developer outreach.

Roberts said DSA manages downtown public‑space reservations for Shiloh Square, Turnbull Park and Luther George Park under a services agreement with the city, maintains downtownspringdale.org and coordinates with city planning and public works to stage events and manage closures. "We bring people together to activate public spaces. We try to support small businesses in downtown," Roberts told the council.

Why it matters: Increased events and improved public‑space management can boost local businesses, increase park maintenance needs and affect downtown traffic and parking strategies.

Roberts reported metrics for 2025 through the first two quarters: more than 125 events listed on the downtown calendar, over 200 social‑media posts, 28 newsletters with a weekly audience of roughly 4,000 and a web traffic total above 20,000 visits. DSA also said its social reach on Facebook and Instagram exceeded a half‑million impressions.

Roberts described Luther George Park programming and park operations: the city accepted the park after a punch list was completed, DSA launched a reservation portal and seasonal programming, and the group plans fall events including a Monarch Flight Festival. Roberts said DSA is coordinating with Parks and Recreation on maintenance and programming; the organization also plans a downtown stakeholder session on August 4 for business owners and property owners to discuss parking, events and development.

DSA and planning staff told the council they are actively recruiting and engaging developers: Roberts said DSA has interacted with more than 35 prospective developers and new business owners, and city planning provided slides showing several downtown projects under construction or permitted, including a 124‑room Sundry Hotel, the 151‑unit Via Emma residential project and the Big Emma project with 77 residential units and an agreement to reserve 20% of units for workforce housing.
