Gilbert council approves consent items, forms irrigation district and adopts 2026 schedule; votes summary

The Gilbert Town Council on Aug. 5 approved a series of consent and administrative items and recorded several unanimous votes on routine and administrative business.

Votes at a glance

- Items 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9: Moved as a group, approved 6'0'0'0'00. (Council recorded a 6-0 vote in favor.)

- Consent calendar (items 10 through 37): Approved 6-0. The package included appointments to the Public Works Advisory Board: Seth Templeton, Greg Froehlich, Mark Horn and Jason Robinson (terms through Aug. 14, 2028) and Eric McCleskey (partial term ending Aug. 14, 2026 and a full term ending Aug. 14, 2029).

- Item 38 (Administrative): Adoption of Resolution 4591 consenting to formation of the Colonia Home Ranch Irrigation Water Delivery District and submission of the taxing district impact statement to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors; authorized the mayor to execute required documents. Approved 6-0.

- Item 39 (Council administration): Adoption of the council meeting schedule for calendar year 2026. Approved 6-0.

Other actions

- The council moved the Ora Santan GP-24-08 / Z-24-20 rezoning/general-plan amendment (item 3) to Oct. 14, 2025 for further review; that item was continued 6-0 (see separate article).

- The council also received communications from citizens and departmental reports; no formal votes were recorded on those communications.

Vote tallies for recorded motions were consistently 6-0 on the items noted above; one member (council member Koprowski) was excused from the meeting. All motions listed above were straightforward approvals of staff recommendations unless otherwise noted in the council packet or on the record.
