Heritage District adds wayfinding signs, announces Harvest festival; redevelopment commission seeks applicants

Council member Torgersen said phase one of wayfinding installation is nearly complete and described a new district brand and icons that identify the Canal, Water Tower and Railway regions of the Heritage District. He announced Gilbert’s Harvest will run Sept. 26 through Nov. 2 with live music, seasonal food and a “Great Gilbert gourd hunt” scavenger activity. Planning/economic development staff said the town is seeking professionals with experience in architecture, landscape design, planning and finance to serve on the redevelopment commission; applications must be submitted by 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9. Staff also noted that the farmer’s market will relocate on Oct. 4 to Chandler‑Gilbert Community College.
