The Redevelopment Commission continued the public hearing for DR25‑24 (South Anchor) to Sept. 17, 2025, after a nearby property owner raised concerns about aging overhead electrical lines in an alley behind properties and potential construction parking impacts on the adjacent Lacey Tract neighborhood.
Claire Jones, a property owner at 40 North Gilbert Road, told the commission she photographed “very, very old and out of date utility electrical wires” in the alley behind several properties and asked the town to “review and potentially improve the electrical lines that are there.” She also asked the town to review contractor parking arrangements during construction so that workers do not spill long‑term parking into neighborhood streets.
Planning staff said they would take note of the concerns and investigate; economic development staff said they typically work with developers to include on‑site service yards and employee parking, and that where sites lack space, staff have arranged for off‑site parking or agreements to limit neighborhood impacts. After the public comment, a commissioner moved and a second was made to continue the item; the commission voted to continue the hearing to Sept. 17, 2025.
Staff noted the alley condition will be investigated before construction and that developers are generally required to coordinate staging, service yards and worker parking with town staff to minimize impacts to surrounding properties.
