James Dibler, a Phoenix resident, told the Glendale City Council on Aug. 12 that the city should add an after-hours hold locker at the Glendale Public Library so patrons can pick up reserved materials outside normal operating hours.
"Adding a hold locker to the library will allow patrons to pick up reserved books after hours," Dibler said. He described how a locker system would notify a patron when a held item is placed in a designated locker, and he said the item would auto‑check out to the patron's library card when the locker opens.
Dibler said lockers allow library materials to be picked up at any time regardless of library hours. The comment was made during the public-comment period; no staff response or council direction was recorded on the Aug. 12 meeting minutes.
