City recognizes Orange County Trauma Intervention Program volunteers at council meeting

Yorba Linda honored local volunteers from the Orange County Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) and heard an annual update on TIP’s crisis-response work across the county.
The Yorba Linda City Council presented certificates and public recognition to volunteers from the Orange County Trauma Intervention Program during the meeting. Bev Lewis, executive director of TIP Orange County, told the council the nonprofit operates 24/7 with about 110 volunteers countywide and responded in 2024 across 26 cities and 14 hospitals, assisting more than 11,000 residents in crisis. Lewis said TIP has eight volunteers who live in Yorba Linda and listed individual volunteer service lengths: Sierra (graduated last year), Shari (three years), Melinda (13 years), Kim (10 years) and Paula (23 years, with 15 years as a typical dispatcher), and noted volunteers support first responders and provide emotional and practical assistance to people affected by traumatic incidents. Mayor Lim and council members thanked the volunteers and announced certificates from federal and state elected officials and the Orange County supervisor’s office. Mayor Lim said the city will continue to support TIP’s work in Yorba Linda and across Orange County. No formal action was taken; the presentation was an informational recognition and annual update.
