CJCC approves $5,000 Battered Women’s Project spending plan with $200 per-family cap

The Criminal Justice Collaborating Council approved recommendations for spending a $5,000 donation designated for the Battered Women’s Project, staff said at the Aug. 21 meeting. Sarah Benedick told the council that an executive-committee working group with human services, victim witness, law enforcement, ADRC and advocacy partners identified needed items and recommended two funding categories: document/legal fees and short- and long-term needs for affected families.
The executive committee recommended a $200 limit per family for identified needs, Benedick said, and the council voted to adopt the plan. "We came up with, through a meeting, a collaborative meeting with a lot of different stakeholders ... the recommendations to use that $5,000," she said. Council members moved and seconded the recommendation and the motion passed with aye votes.
Ending: Staff will implement the distribution plan and return with any required reporting to the CJCC.
