City manager highlights Brownfields award, new rescue boat and sirens

City Manager David Lohr updated the council Monday on recent city activity and awards.
Lohr said city staff presented development projects that used Brownfields cleanup grants at the 2025 National Brownfields Conference and that management fellows Reed Russell and Ryan Galvan received the conference's People's Choice Award for a poster on the Hotel Grama redevelopment. Lohr also announced that the city's fire department received the county's first rescue boat and that new outdoor weather sirens budgeted by the council have been installed to provide broader coverage across the city. Lohr said newly seated boards for the Texas Industrial Development Corporation and the Community Development Corporation have begun work and will meet to elect officers and set strategic priorities.
Lohr closed his report by reminding the council to save the date for National Night Out on Oct. 7 and said more information will be sent to neighborhoods that register block parties through the police department.
