San Angelos City Council approved on Aug. 5 the purchase of 3,977.16 square feet of land from First Presbyterian Church for the Chadbourne Street Phase B streetscape project. The city will pay the appraised value of $59,000 and closing costs not to exceed $2,000, and authorized the city manager to negotiate and execute related documents.

Staff explained that Phase B is the continuation of Chadbourne Street improvements (streetscape and roadwork) from Beauregard to the loop; the parcel purchase is needed to better align College Street so the intersection is less skewed. The council approved the measure by a 6-0 vote.

Next steps: staff will complete acquisition closing and incorporate the parcel into the Phase B design and right-of-way plans.
