Vince Handler told the Sanger City Council on July 21, 2025, that he is running for Denton County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5 and described his legal and public-service background.
Handler said the precinct’s jurisdiction covers much of the northern half of Denton County from the Wise County line to the Collin County line. He described himself as a licensed attorney, a former law-enforcement special agent, and a veteran of more than 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. Handler said he has served on local boards, worked as an election judge, serves as a precinct chair, is vice president of the Denton County Republican Veterans Club and volunteers as a teen court judge for the Collin County teen court program.
Handler told the council he has earned endorsements and support from multiple Denton County judges and that Denton County Sheriff Tracy Murphy is serving as his campaign treasurer; he said other endorsements from state representatives, county commissioners, mayors and council members are in process. Handler said he was asked by the current justice of the peace, Judge Mike Oglesby, to consider filling the role and that he and his wife view the candidacy as a calling.
Handler closed by directing listeners to his campaign website, handlerforjudge.com, for more information. His remarks were delivered during the council’s citizens input period; no council action followed from the comments.
