Parks, recreation and maintenance staff presented an annual overview to the Sanger City Council on July 21, 2025, summarizing capital and upkeep work at city parks and facilities and recent equipment and security upgrades.
Councilor Brian Ollie gave the presentation, and Ryan (maintenance staff) described recent projects that included new security cameras at parks and other facilities, backstop padding and playground slide replacements, and baseball maintenance training. Staff said routine maintenance work this year covered roof repair, HVAC, pest control, plumbing, interior and exterior building repairs, smoke alarms and fire extinguishers, supply management, custodial contract oversight and city auctions.
Staff reported a city surplus auction collected more than $160,000, which they said cleared outdated inventory. Council members asked about vandalism at Switcher Park; staff said cameras had reduced incidents to routine sidewalk chalking and minor issues and that a modem upgrade to the camera system would be completed within a week.
Other items mentioned included completion of a downtown concept plan, a Porter Park East concept plan, and pond maintenance at Porter Sports Park. Council thanked the crews for their work during the summer months when maintenance needs are busiest.
The presentation was informational; no council action was taken during the report item.
