The Tillamook County Board of Commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding with the Tillamook Softball Association to use the west parking area of the county fairgrounds for sports activities and to create two softball fields.

A presenter representing the Tillamook Softball Association said the group lost its long-time Port lease in September 2024 and has sought a replacement site. The MOU lays out cooperative use of the fairgrounds area adjacent to Tillamook Bay Community College parking and was developed in coordination with the fair board and YMCA. The association said the proposed fields would also expand youth access and support fundraising tournaments.

Commissioners and association representatives discussed timing and site preparation; the presenter said the group hopes to prepare the land this season but could not guarantee a full coed season beginning in June. The MOU was approved by motion and unanimous vote with no amendments noted in the meeting record.
