County renews Granicus short‑term rental monitoring and complaint services

Tillamook County commissioners approved a fifth amendment to the county’s Granicus LLC service agreement to renew online monitoring and host‑compliance services for transient lodging tax and short‑term rental (STR) program administration.
Sarah Apshrew, director of the Department of Community Development, described the two main components of the contract: a web‑scraping tool that identifies properties offering transient lodging that are not in the county’s database, and a host‑compliance complaint line that allows neighbors to report suspected unpermitted rentals. Apshrew said the county typically finds a “handful” of previously unregistered operators each year—often between 12 and 20—and that the program, combined with the county’s hearings officer and enforcement tools, helps improve compliance.
Commissioners noted that the program has been in place in varying forms since about 2017–2018 and praised its utility in helping the county track and enforce transient lodging and STR rules. The motion to approve the amendment carried unanimously.
