The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved an assignment and assumption agreement on May 21 to transfer one of the Tillamook County Child Advocacy Center’s remaining grants from the county to the center’s new nonprofit entity.
Sarah Dentel, introduced as executive director of the Tillamook County Child Advocacy Center, told commissioners the center has formed a registered nonprofit, obtained an employer identification number and has transferred most grants from the Department of Justice’s Crime Victim and Survivor Services Division (CVSSD). Dentel said she was requesting county approval to transfer 1 remaining grant award so the new nonprofit can receive and manage those funds directly.
Dentel said the center has hired staff, is finalizing a location and has held community prevention events that drew residents. Commissioners thanked Dentel and local public safety partners for advancing a locally based center that will reduce the need for victims to travel for interviews and services. A motion to approve the agreement passed unanimously.
The transfer is administrative: commissioners authorized the assignment and assumption agreement with the Oregon Department of Justice — Crime Victim and Survivor Services Division so the county can legally transfer the administration of the identified grant to the Child Advocacy Center’s nonprofit. The county record shows the board’s action was an approval of the agreement; no additional policy changes were made at the meeting.
