Representatives of the Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust (CCALT) and project partners asked the board for a letter of support for Project 222, a purchase‑of‑development‑rights application that spans Routt County and a neighboring county. Staff said the project had been handled at confidential Tier 1 status in the PDR process; the applicant supplied a signed waiver allowing the county to provide a public letter of support to be included with a joint application to Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s regional partnership initiative and to Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO).
County counsel reviewed the draft letter for consistency with county policy and confirmed that confidentiality waivers were on file. Commissioners voted to approve and authorize signatures on the letter of support. Staff said the county’s endorsement is intended to show local support for a project that preserves agricultural land and may strengthen the applicant’s combined CPW/GOCO funding request.
No fiscal commitment was requested from the county at this time; the board’s action was limited to a letter of local support.
