County accepts Colorado Energy Office amendment, reduces weatherization target to 140 homes

PUEBLO, Colo. — Pueblo County commissioners on Aug. 5 approved an amendment to the county's Colorado Energy Office (CEO) weatherization grant that extends the contract and adjusts funding and production targets for the program year.
A county presenter explained the amendment extends the agreement term from Sept. 30, 2025, to June 30, 2026, allocates an additional $2,117,523 for state fiscal year 2026 and adjusts prior-year budgets to reflect actual expenditures. The presenter said the amendment results in an overall program-year reduction of $315,323 and lowers the county's production goal from last year's target of 165 homes weatherized to 140 homes this program year.
The presenter told the board the county is not required to provide matching funds under the amendment. Commissioners expressed appreciation for the program while noting the drop in production goal and a hope the figure will not change again pending any special legislative session.
The board voted to approve the grant agreement amendment; the motion carried on the record. County staff will implement the extended contract through June 30, 2026, and adjust scheduling and production targets accordingly.
