Shrewsbury accepts $9,999.99 state grant to help fund block-system project

City staff described the award as a block grant of $9,999.99 to be applied to the city's block system; staff said the grant does not cover the full project cost and that the city has applied for additional grants to cover the remainder. "No. It covers half of it. We've got other grants we've been that we put in for a second," a staff member said when asked whether the award covered the full cost.
The board approved the ordinance on final passage by roll call. The clerk recorded affirmative votes from Alderman Odenwald, Alderman Parker, Alderman Bridal, Alderman Riley, Alderman Walsh and Alderman Stark. The ordinance received final passage and was assigned ordinance number 4026 for the record.
Staff indicated the grant will be incorporated into the city's funding plan for the block-system installation and that further funding will come from other grants or local sources as applications are resolved.
