Town Manager Rick Sawyer used the July 16 meeting to deliver several administrative updates: Bedford retained a Moody’s AAA bond rating, the town’s bond sale for a solar array at the transfer station closed at just under 3%, and Beals Road is closed for a contractor project that began earlier than anticipated.
Sawyer noted a state ban, effective July 1, on lithium‑ion batteries in household waste and said residents can recycle those batteries at the transfer station and at retailers such as Lowe’s and Staples. He also reviewed summer programming and events including pool hours, the farmers market, upcoming concerts at Bedford Village Common and community events such as the Bedford Rotary Club road race and the kids triathlon.
Sawyer said the town’s AAA rating reflected the community tax base, capital reserve funding and fund balance policy. He told the council Bedford remains the only municipality in New Hampshire with a Moody’s AAA rating and highlighted low interest costs for the solar bond that the town recently sold.
