The Bedford Town Council unanimously accepted a $1,785 donation from the Bedford Women's Club on June 11 to fund benches, an ADA-compliant picnic table, maintenance, power tools and bridge repairs along town trails.
Town Manager Rick Sawyer thanked the women's club for its ongoing support of trail work and noted images in the staff presentation showing prior projects funded by the group. Sawyer and councilors said the new picnic table includes an overhang on one end to accommodate a wheelchair. "There is an overhang on one end so that somebody in a wheelchair can go up to the side of the table," Sawyer said.
Councilor Bill Carter moved to accept the donation under RSA 31:95-b and authorize the expenditure; Councilor Kathleen Bemis seconded. The council voted 7-0 to accept the donation and approve the spending.
The donation will be used for the described trail and accessibility improvements, and the council thanked the Bedford Women's Club for its contribution.
