The Bedford Town Council on July 16 voted to accept a $2,000 donation from the Bedford Education Foundation to cover Bedford Community Television (BCTV) staffing and production costs for high school graduation coverage. Town Manager Rick Sawyer explained BCTV raised concerns about staffing capacity under the town’s default budget and the school board sought assistance; the Education Foundation provided the funds to preserve the typical broadcast coverage.
Sawyer told the council the director of BCTV had alerted the school board to potential reductions in staffing for graduation broadcasts under the default budget. "The Bedford Education Foundation did agree to step up and provide the $2,000 so that the graduation could be covered as it typically is," Sawyer said. The council accepted the unanticipated revenue under the state statute referenced in the meeting and authorized the expenditure.
Councilor Carter moved acceptance pursuant to the RSA cited in staff remarks; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The council recorded that the check was on hand at the meeting.
