The McPherson County Commission approved purchase of a double‑occupant transport cage to be installed in a patrol vehicle for the corrections transport division.

Captain Blevins, corrections, presented an estimate from Specialty Vehicle Source for an installed double cage and said the installed cost estimate was $3,293.75 and described operational benefits: equipping two detainees reduces mileage and staffing burdens. On the record a commissioner moved to approve the purchase “not to exceed $3,002.93 and 75¢” and a second was recorded; the commission voted aye and the motion carried.

Blevins told the commission the cage will be fitted in one of two Dodge Durango vehicles the county is receiving. County staff later noted a contract or purchase document will be rewritten for signature and the vendor will finalize paperwork.

The commission’s vote was unanimous on the motion as recorded in the meeting transcript. No additional appropriations or funding sources were discussed on the record; staff indicated usual procurement procedures will follow to complete purchase and installation.
