The Rec Centers of Sun City Board of Directors voted in favor of the association’s 2025–26 insurance renewal on second reading during its June 26 meeting. The Insurance Committee and the RCSC insurance brokers recommended the renewal, which the motion described as maintaining the same coverage terms and most of the same carriers.
Vice President Jeff Netesheim read the committee motion and told members that the renewal reflects challenging market conditions for commercial coverages, including a lost carrier and higher rates across the sector. The motion said the overall premium increase for the 2025–26 policy period would be $301,007, a roughly 20% increase over the expiring coverage.
No members signed up to speak on the renewal. The board recorded the second-reading roll call vote as 8 in favor, 0 opposed and 1 abstention; Secretary Keis recorded Director Jana Mapes as the abstention. President Tom Foster cast a yes vote as well. The board did not change coverage terms as part of the vote.
Board discussion focused on the limited availability of carriers for condominium/HOA-type pools in the current market and on the Insurance Committee’s work to find replacement carriers where policies were not renewed. Vice President Netesheim said the committee examined options and selected a package intended to preserve protections for RCSC and members in the current market.
The insurance renewal motion is recorded as passing its second reading; staff will implement the renewal and coordinate issuance and policy documents with the association’s insurance brokers.
