Public health contract from CDPHE reduced for 2025 but county says deliverables unaffected; MOU with Jackson County pending

Grand County Public Health informed the Board of County Commissioners that a Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) public health emergency preparedness contract for fiscal 2025–26 will be significantly reduced — by approximately 75 percent — but said the department can still complete required deliverables.
Public Health director Abby Baker presented the contract before the board and reported that the contract amount is $31,863 for the July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026 period. She said the reduction will not impede the county’s ability to meet deliverables, and she asked commissioners to authorize the chair to sign the contract via DocuSign.
Baker also advised commissioners that the county has an existing memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Jackson County for shared emergency preparedness coordinator services. Because of the funding reduction, county staff will amend the Jackson County MOU for the new fiscal year; that amendment will come back to the board for approval after it is signed by Jackson County.
Commissioners moved to approve the CDPHE contract and to authorize electronic signature by the chair. They asked that the amended MOU be returned for their review when available.
