Council appoints planning commissioners and approves updated planning and development fees
Summary
Council appointed two applicants to fill planning commission vacancies and approved a resolution updating planning and development fees, many of which had not been adjusted in decades.
The Junction City Council on June 10 appointed John Aragon to a regular planning commission seat and Joseph Wardlow to an alternate seat; both appointments fill unexpired terms through Oct. 31, 2028. Planner Portillo said the planning commission had unanimously recommended those appointments after reviewing applications.
Staff also presented an update to the planning and development fee schedule. Planning staff and a contract planner reviewed long-unused fee lines, found many fees did not cover staff time, and proposed increases for several application types and services. Planner Portillo said some fees had not been changed since 1994 and that updates aim to recover actual staff costs. The packet included a side-by-side showing of current fees and proposed changes; the finance and judiciary committee recommended forwarding the resolution to council.
Council voted to approve Resolution No. 4 to update the planning and development fee schedule. Council recorded no public testimony on the fee changes at the time of the vote.
