Council approves new records/dispatch software and Lane County dispatch/radio contract

The Junction City Council voted June 10 to approve a contract with EIS to replace the police department's legacy records management (RMS), computer-aided dispatch (CAD), jail-management (JMS) and evidence systems, and separately approved a Lane County Sheriff's Office dispatch and radio equipment contract.
Chief Waddell (identified in the meeting as the police chief) told council the new EIS platform would consolidate RMS, CAD, JMS and evidence into a single system. The purchase is the same software used by Lane County, which Chief Waddell said will improve information sharing (master name and vehicle indexes) between jurisdictions. Staff noted $200,000 had been set aside previously in the 2024-25 budget and the EIS contract under consideration was approximately $127,000.
Council also approved a Lane County Sheriff's Office dispatch and radio equipment contract that includes equipment Lane County purchased to facilitate Junction City's transition to county dispatch. The contract covers both service and reimbursement for some equipment costs; the agreement is structured over a five-year term. Council recorded thanks to Lane County for assistance in the transition.
Both items passed on unanimous votes. The police chief and staff said the software and radio/dispatch agreement aim to improve interoperability and officer safety by aligning systems across jurisdictions.
