The city manager said the position was part of prior budget planning and that Patton’s certifications and experience will allow the city to operate the wastewater plant with city employees.
The announcement was delivered as part of department reports; councilors welcomed the hire and no formal approval or separate motion was recorded during the meeting. Staff said they will follow up with onboarding tasks and noted the hire should help the city complete outstanding audit and certification work for utilities.
