The staff recommendation—Approve Resolution No. 18 for 2025—stated there is no cost to the city, and city staff will set up and remove barricades. A councilor confirmed that surrounding businesses were consulted. The council moved, seconded and voted with four ayes and no nays to approve the temporary closure.
The resolution directs staff to implement the closure plan and coordinate with public safety agencies; event logistics and vendor details will be handled by city staff and volunteers. No public opposition was recorded in the meeting minutes and no additional funding was requested.
