The Laconia School Board approved several personnel actions to support the district for the 2025–26 school year. The board voted unanimously to appoint Jen Sauta as interim Director of Special Education (retroactive to July 1) with an $11,000 stipend; Lisa Hines was approved as interim Assistant Superintendent (retroactive to July 1); and Mike Boyle was approved as interim high school principal. Each motion passed by recorded unanimous votes.
Separately, the board approved the nomination of Douglas Gooden for the Grade 7 science teaching position. Administration said Gooden holds certifications in middle school science and special education and has nine years of teaching experience; he has been teaching seventh and eighth grade science for the past five years. The motions to accept the hires passed unanimously.
Administration said it will manage role responsibilities across the SAU office and building teams during the superintendent transition, with Hines supervising the middle and high school administrative teams while interim superintendent duties continue to be carried by the existing office. The board authorized retroactive effective dates to July 1 for the interim appointments.
