The Salem School Board authorized the award of the Billy Doucette Memorial Scholarship on July 29 to Mason Emerson, a 2025 graduate of Salem High School, in the amount of $2,000 payable in two $1,000 installments. Superintendent Laura Palmer presented the recommendation and said the nomination memo was from Nicole Burke, director of school counseling at Salem High School. Palmer said Emerson will attend Manchester Community College this fall.

Board discussion was limited and a board member noted a minor address detail for the disbursement check. Michael Carney moved the motion to award the scholarship; the motion was seconded and approved 5-0.
