The Grey Canyon Commissioners Court on July 29, 2025, approved multiple actions for East Texas Regional Airport to support repairs, grant preparation and modernization.
The court approved a fund transfer of $22,345 from airport operations and maintenance to cover repairs to the PHI hangar. Commissioners also approved transferring $61,672.50 from KRS Hangar and JetBridge non‑FAA funds to maintenance for a maintenance shop project previously budgeted for FY 2025.
Airport staff requested and the court approved KSA task order number 15 to prepare specifications and support a grant application for an aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) vehicle. Airport staff told the court the grant award is expected to be announced in December and that the county cannot meet a current September procurement deadline; KSA's task order will advance specs and application work in anticipation of the award. Airport staff said the truck cost exceeds $1 million and that the county's match will be 5% across FY 2025 and FY 2026 (reduced from a typical 10% match for this award cycle).
The court also authorized purchase of inspection and leasing software to handle airport leasing, invoicing and Part 139 requirements and directed the county judge to execute necessary documents.
Later agenda items included approval of a contract to restore HVAC systems at the airport; staff said the awarded project comes about $100,000 under the FY 2025 budget estimate.
Motions to approve each item carried by voice vote.
