Justin Harding, a fifth-generation Southern Utah native nominated to serve on the Southern Utah University Board of Trustees, won unanimous committee support after stressing the importance of maintaining SUU’s small-class intimate learning environment while aligning programs to workforce needs.
Harding described a career that began with a congressional internship and included senior roles in state government, service as president of the Pennsylvania Philadelphia Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and current work in international government relations. He told the committee he values SUU’s mentorship and small-class experience and pledged to seek alignment with the legislature on workforce and program priorities that reflect taxpayer stewardship.
Senators complimented Harding’s long public-service record and local ties. Senator Baldry moved to forward Harding’s nomination to the full Senate with a favorable recommendation; the motion passed unanimously. Harding’s appointment will next be considered by the full Senate.
