HSC staff report: match-assistance RFA open; literacy grantee outcomes revised

Health and Social Services Commission staff provided administrative updates during the Aug. 13 meeting. Mr. Menacher (HSC staff) told commissioners the match-assistance request for applications (RFA) is open and that Round 1 applications are available for scoring at the next meeting. Staff reported that an Alzheimer’s organization awarded an HSCMG grant now has a local representative, though it does not yet have a local office. Mr. Menacher also said the literacy program’s end-of-year outcome numbers were lower than expected; after consulting with the grantee’s executive director, staff revised the FY26 projected outcomes downward by roughly one-third so future funding requests would better reflect likely results. Mr. Menacher reminded commissioners that the opioid remediation grant presentations at this meeting were optional and that not all applicants would be penalized for missing a presentation; he asked commissioners for feedback on the presentation format. He also noted there were no agencies delinquent on reports or in bad standing with the borough.
