Staff said the replacement material will be concrete to reduce future fuel degradation and that the ground disturbance will be limited to the existing taxiway footprint, with excavation not expected to exceed 24 inches. "Taxiway Kilo is not historic and not within the Flight Line Historic District and is spatially removed from the runway," staff reported, and the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) had concurred that the project would have no adverse effects.
The commission had no substantive questions and offered no comments for transmittal. Staff said they would convey any comments the commission asked them to raise with Eielson Air Force Base.
The item was informational: the project footprint is within previously constructed pavement, the proposed replacement will change surface material to concrete, and SHPO concurrence was reported. No formal recommendation or vote on conditions was recorded at the meeting.
