The Denver Mountain Parks Foundation thanked Denver City Council on Aug. 4 for prior support for the Echo Lake Lodge renovation and urged continued preservation work.
Kate Fritz, executive director of the Denver Mountain Parks Foundation and a mayoral appointee to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (speaking in a personal capacity), said Echo Lake Lodge was identified in the 2008 Denver Mountain Parks Master Plan as one of the system’s “stars” and noted its approaching 100th anniversary. "The renovation and adaptive reuse of this location will provide year round recreational opportunities for everyone in Denver," Fritz said.
Fritz also referenced the city’s Outdoor Adventure and Alternative Sports Strategic Plan (noted as a 2023 plan during her remarks) and said cultural institutions and mountain parks are vital to the city’s quality of life. Her remarks were a public thank-you and call for continued council attention; no formal council action occurred during the public comment period.
Follow-up on design, funding and schedule for Echo Lake Lodge would occur in later council or departmental agenda items, not during the public comment session.
