The McLean County Executive Committee voted Aug. 11 to approve a letter of understanding with the Illinois Department of Transportation for the Towanda Overpass on County Highway 29.
Member Klein moved the item and Member Reeves seconded; the committee approved the letter of understanding by voice vote. Klein noted the item falls under Land Use and Transportation and said the committee will have three items for the full board in the coming Thursday packet.
While reporting, Member Klein also thanked people who attended the Route 66 bike‑trail extension event and said officials anticipate the trail extension to reach near McLean by October. He encouraged the public to plan visits once the trail is complete.
The letter of understanding with IDOT will proceed according to the terms negotiated with the state agency; no further details were discussed at the Executive Committee meeting.
