Glenn County opened bids for IFB 25-065, burial and cremation services for indigent residents, at a public bid opening streamed by the county. Procurement analyst Mickey Thompson read two bids: Brunswick Memorial Park and Funeral Home of Brunswick, Georgia, submitted $11,000, and Mission First of Atlanta submitted $21,750.
The bid opening is the first step in the county's procurement process for these services. "All paperwork will be reviewed by myself and the project manager for accuracy and completion," Procurement Analyst Mickey Thompson said during the event. Thompson also told attendees that the lowest responsive bid may not be the recommended awardee and that the recommended award will be presented to the finance committee and then to the full Board of Commissioners.
County staff did not announce any award at the opening. The procurement analyst said a bid tabulation sheet will be posted to the county website when available and encouraged bidders to sign up for bid alerts to be notified of that posting. No motions, votes, or contract awards were recorded at the opening.
Details provided at the opening were limited to bidder names, locations and bid totals; no scope, contract term, or funding-source details were presented at the event. Requests for clarification or additional procurement documents were directed to the procurement office via the email address provided at the close of the opening.
