Glynn County intern to present midterm review of strategic and comprehensive plans to commissioners Aug. 19

Celie Deaver, the summer intern in the Glynn County manager’s office, plans to present a midterm review of the county’s strategic plan and the comprehensive plan at a Glynn County Board of Commissioners work session on Aug. 19, she said on the Good News Glenn broadcast.
The internship was supported by a grant from ACCG and assigned a project to cross‑check initiatives and timelines between the county’s strategic plan (which ends next December, the intern said) and the longer‑range comprehensive plan (scheduled for readoption in 2028). Deaver said she met with more than a dozen department heads to record progress, challenges and resource needs and has been preparing a midterm status presentation and an end‑of‑plan pamphlet summarizing accomplishments and outstanding items.
Glynn County Manager Bill Fallon said the county will hold quarterly execution reviews in August to review strategic initiatives and departmental performance measures. “In August, we’re gonna do our quarterly execution reviews, on Tuesday, the twelfth, and then on Thursday, the fourteenth, where we’re gonna be talking about the strategic plan,” Fallon said. He described the QERs as an opportunity for departments to report one routine success and one area to stretch.
Deaver said the midterm review work included meeting department heads assigned tasks in both plans and developing a summary of status, timelines and resource needs. She told the broadcast she has also begun preparing materials for a pamphlet the county will use at the end of the strategic‑plan term to summarize accomplishments and outstanding work.
Fallon emphasized that performance measures are intended to help departments “tell their story” and described countywide efforts to use metrics to highlight routine achievements and areas for improvement. Deaver said she expects to present findings and recommendations at the Aug. 19 work session and that the pamphlet and some materials will be used to communicate the plan’s end‑of‑term results to the public.
Deaver and Fallon did not provide a comprehensive list of metrics, dollar amounts or implementation deadlines on the broadcast. The county manager encouraged residents to review the online budget and performance pages for further detail and said departments will discuss their performance measures during the QER sessions.
