County staff seeks a commissioner to join regional REDI leadership group; no appointment made

County staff asked the Henry County Board of Commissioners April 13 to designate one commissioner to represent the county on a regional REDI leadership group that would participate in steering decisions for REDI 1 and REDI 2 projects and procedures for reallocating funds when projects change.
Joel Murphy, a county staff member, described the proposed county leadership group as including a commissioner, a county council representative, a town representative from Knightstown, a town representative from Middletown, the Henry County Community Foundation, Henry Community Health (the hospital) and the Economic Development Corporation. Murphy said the group would help decide how funds allocated to projects are reallocated if projects need fewer funds or a project is discontinued.
Murphy asked for one commissioner to serve and said he did not need an immediate decision: "I don't necessarily need a decision today," he told the board. Commissioners did not appoint a representative during the meeting and asked Murphy to return to a later meeting after they had time to consider the request.
Murphy said he will also discuss the matter with the county council and bring the county’s select representative to a future meeting if needed. No formal motion or resolution was made at the April 13 meeting.
