WOODLAND PARK, Colo. — Commissioners reviewed a final concept for reimagining Bergstrom Park and said city land purchases and roadway changes have substantially altered the project—s design and funding needs.
Commission member Linda (Historic Preservation Commission member) said the plan retains the Midland Depot replica built in 1986 and that the city—s pending property acquisition and roadwork "changed the whole complexity of that small area" and opened new possibilities for parking and access.
Karen (city staff member) said the city is pursuing purchases of nearby parcels, and that one of the purchase approvals appears on Thursday—s city council consent agenda as an agreement between the City of Woodland Park and Beer Garden Development LLC to buy two parcels owned by Arden Weatherford. "So that's where that is," Karen said, noting the contract approval would change how the HPC could approach features tied to adjacent properties.
Commissioners said the concept looks strong but emphasized funding as the primary barrier. They discussed the prospect of phasing construction and engaging Kimberly (city grant writer) to pursue funding sources, and noted that securing funding will likely delay major implementation.
