Superintendent: schools ready for opening; most buses will have air conditioning

Superintendent Perris told the board that district staff had worked long hours preparing for the first day of school and that schools across the district are ready. “Our employees are happy. On transportation Perris said most buses would have air conditioning, estimating "about 95%" complete and that approximately 20 buses would not yet have AC because they are new buses not yet delivered. He also announced committee meeting dates and proposed an additional curriculum and policy meeting for Aug. 19 in conjunction with the budget and goals meeting; the board discussed scheduling and agreed to follow up. Perris thanked staff and asked the board to convey support to principals and teachers.
