The Kent County Police Administrative Charging Committee introduced Tara Short as its new administrative assistant at its Aug. 6 meeting, a committee member presiding over the meeting said. The presiding member said Short “took Valerie’s position” and welcomed her; Short responded, “Happy to be here.” The presiding member added, jokingly, “Just don't listen to Frank or Pete about her.” The introduction was made during the public portion of the meeting and no separate vote or formal appointment is recorded in the public transcript. The committee subsequently moved on to other routine business, including accepting the agenda and minutes and a motion to enter closed session for a personnel matter (case KCSO002).
