John, founder of the software company Civic Review, demonstrated the company’s permitting and licensing platform to the Rich County Commission and answered questions about functionality, payment integrations and inspection tools.
John said Civic Review is already used in nearby jurisdictions and by a number of counties; he showed examples including building permits, business licensing, code enforcement, plan-review tracking and an offline-capable inspection app. Commissioners asked specifically whether the platform integrates with payment providers; John said Civic Review integrates with Stripe and with a local payments company called Core.
Commissioners and staff raised potential use cases for the county: building permits, short-term rental registration and renewals, inspection workflows and automated renewals to reduce manual work. Staff noted possible integration challenges with sanitation-scale systems. John said the platform can be customized, supports messaging between reviewers and applicants, and calculates fees automatically for building permits.
The commission asked staff to continue evaluating the product and pricing. No procurement or contract was approved at the meeting; staff agreed to return with more detailed pricing and integration information.
