Commission signs agreement terminating District 1 Mental Health Authority; Bear River remains provider under contract

Rich County commissioners on the record signed an agreement to terminate the District 1 Mental Health Authority and finalize a recent reorganization that routes mental-health contracting through the county health department. The action was presented during a phone call with a participant identified as Ben and carried unanimously.

The termination document was described as a “loose ends” cleanup to complete a reformatting that created a new mental health authority via an interlocal agreement. Ben told commissioners that Cache and Box Elder counties have already signed the termination agreement; once the commission signs, the reformatting will be complete.

Bear River Mental Health will continue as the behavioral-health provider, Ben said, but services will be provided under a contract administered by the health department rather than direct county-level District 1 authority contracts. Commissioners moved to sign the termination agreement; the motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner discussion included a request that the executed, signed copy be emailed to county attorneys so other counties could file it in their records. A staff member (Annalise) agreed to distribute the signed document.
