The Milton School District Board of Education voted Aug. 6 to approve 42 policy revisions and additions recommended by the governance committee, including routine language updates, policy sunsets and several new policies.
Tracy, who chaired the governance committee, told the board the package included about 30 routine maintenance changes, five policies identified for sunset because they are obsolete or have been incorporated elsewhere, and seven new policies. The package had been presented at the board’s prior meeting and was brought forward for approval as a group. Tracy moved to approve the NEOLA and other policies as presented; Rick seconded the motion and the board approved the package.
Why it matters: These policy updates adjust district governance documents to current practices and to NEOLA recommendations; sunsetted policies were removed because they are no longer applicable or their provisions have been relocated.
Discussion vs. decision - Discussion only: governance committee review and committee chair summary of types of changes (routine language edits, sunsets, new policies). - Formal action: board approved the full package of 42 policy changes.
What’s next: The approved policy revisions will be incorporated into the district’s policy manual and posted per usual board procedures.
