Board hears twice-yearly data workshop showing improvements in reading, math and graduation rates

At its Aug. 6 meeting the Milton School District Board received the district’s twice-yearly data workshop, a summary staff use to track student performance and guide board goal-setting.
A presenter reviewed spring testing results, reporting that I-Ready reading and math score bands showed growth (larger “green” bands and smaller “red” bands compared with fall testing), that Advanced Placement participation and scores were up, and that graduation rates remained strong and were trending upward. Social-emotional learning (SEL) survey results were described as positive, with students reporting they feel safe, have supportive relationships and access to extracurricular involvement. Staff also noted the district’s net promoter score — a measure of stakeholders’ likelihood to recommend the district — is trending up.
The presenter thanked district teams by name for compiling the data and emphasized that the workshop informs board goal-setting and priority-setting over the year. The board offered brief praise for the district’s staff work and for continuing attention to students who remain below grade level.
