MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Morgantown City Council on Tuesday approved a contract award to Mountaineer Infrastructure to perform Phase 5 of runway work at Morgantown Municipal Airport.
Staff said bids were opened in April and Mountaineer Infrastructure submitted the lowest combined bid for the base scope and alternates. The contract would begin in October and the contractor anticipates approximately a 340‑day construction schedule for Phase 5.
According to staff, what was originally planned as five phases has expanded as funding rolled in; the director said the full program may now extend to eight to ten phases. Council moved and approved the contract on a voice vote; the item passed 6-0.
City staff said the award follows the city’s public bid process and that work will be coordinated with airport operations; more detailed construction phasing and closures will be announced by the airport as schedules firm.
Council had no additional discussion and voted to approve the contract at Tuesday’s meeting.
