Davie Women’s Club raises funds for long-delayed roof replacement, plans Aug. 16 marketplace

Representatives of the Davie Women’s Club addressed the Town of Davie council during the public-comment portion to report capital improvements and upcoming events.

Alexandra Zadak, director of education for the Davie Women’s Club, told the council the group "has not had our roof replaced" since 1986 and that the club has now raised enough funds to replace it. She said the replacement would end leaks at the club. The club, she said, was founded in 1922 and she identified herself as a resident in Davie’s District 4.

Zadak also invited residents to Timeless Treasures, a marketplace the club will host on Aug. 16. "Anyone can sign up through the Cooper City Chamber of Commerce website to have a table to sell wares or to promote your business," she said, adding the event will offer indoor and outdoor tables and family-friendly activities and that the club’s strawberry shortcakes and smoothies are popular among attendees.
